Telltales are how you know.

Telltales are the yarns on a sail that show how the air is flowing. When they stream, the sail is working. When they stall, a sailor knows to make a change.

Telltales is operated by Lobsterhawk LLC d/b/a Telltales. We build Shore School: off-water Optimist (Opti) instruction that starts with safety and fundamentals, then follows a pathway from first launches through Green Fleet and, when a sailor is ready, Championship Fleet Red, White, and Blue.

Our aim is the sport’s aim: safe, fun, high-quality sailing that keeps young people sailing for life. Shore School supports the instruction your club and its US Sailing-certified coaches provide. It does not replace it.

We also make a small run of merch for girl sailors and the families who support them. A parent pays. There is no child checkout.

What we do not do: we do not publish sailors’ names or photos, and a sailor never gets an email or an account of their own.
